Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

How does the PuriFi Smart Hub work?

When a change in your indoor air quality is detected, the PuriFi Sensor notifies the PuriFi Smart Hub, and the patented PuriFi Generator is signaled to respond—all in real-time.

The PuriFi App gives you a choice of how you want to operate your system:  Clean, Cleaner or Cleanest.  90% of homes and buildings have the best results with the Clean setting. However, during seasonal events, particulates may rise and the Cleaner or Cleanest setting should be utilized for best results.

How does the PuriFi PM Sensor work?

The PuriFi PM Sensor continuously monitors the air quality in your indoor environment, providing real-time feedback to the Smart Hub or your own smart device. The sensor measures particulates (down to 0.3 micron), temperature and humidity. Simply plug-in the sensor and place it in the area you see the most activity.

What is the PuriFi App?

The PuriFi app allows you to see your minute-by-minute indoor air quality and control your system from any smartphone or tablet. You can also receive notifications and alerts, such as when to change your HVAC filter.

Does the PuriFi System release ozone into my home or building?

The PuriFi Generator removes unwanted ozone by means of the proprietary PuriFi 02 Catalyst. The Catalyst captures ozone molecules while allowing the ions to pass through. This gives you the powerful effect of air purification without the negative side effect of ozone. The system has been tested and proven safe by Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

Is this technology similar to UV?

No. UV can protect your coils and HVAC system but lacks efficacy in high-speed airflow in the duct due to the lack of reaction time to effectively eliminate contaminants. With our in-duct technology and through your home’s airflow, you blanket every room with ions attacking the contaminants at the source. Every vent in your home becomes its own air purification system.

Do I need WIFI to run the system?

No. Our system runs on a private Zigbee radio network. WIFI is only needed if you want to utilize the detailed data the system provides.

How much energy does the system use?

The system uses the highest amount of energy to create strong ion-clusters to remove contaminants and pathogens from every corner of your home but consumes less electricity than a 20w light bulb.

Installation & Maintenance FAQs

How does the PuriFi Generator install?

The 8.5” W x 7.3” H x 14” D in-duct unit installs into the existing air duct path on the supply side of your central HVAC system. It connects to your blower fan only.

How long does it take to install?

Most installations take approximately 20 minutes for the Generator and another 10 – 15 minutes for the PM Sensor and the Smart Hub.

What is the maintenance for this type of system?

Simple. You only need to replace the PuriFi 02 Catalyst every two years. A notification reminder will be sent to you when it’s time to replace.

Will I need to replace my HVAC air filters more often?

Yes, you will want to change your HVAC air filter more often as needed since our natural ionization process will make your air filters more effective.

What if I have more than one HVAC system in my home?

Depending on the size of your home or business, you may have more than one HVAC system. Since this patented air purification technology uses the airflow from your HVAC fan, your application may require additional units. Each HVAC system will need one PuriFi system. For example, if your home or business has two HVAC systems, then you will need two units. If your home or business has one HVAC system, then you will need one unit. A PuriFi Generator installed in each Air Handling Unit (AHU) ensures the entire occupied space is being purified. Contact 1-602-253-2624 for more information on a multiple-unit installation.

Warranty FAQs

What type of warranty does the system come with?

The system is covered by a Limited Warranty: Generator (5-Year Limited), Sensor (2-Year Limited), and Hub (2-Year Limited).

Does this system void or endanger my existing HVAC warranty?

No. It integrates into your duct work and therefore does not affect your HVAC system.
